Snelson Crew Assists Fire Department with Southern California Wildfire

A potentially dangerous situation was avoided thanks to quick thinking by a Snelson Companies pipeline construction crew operating in Southern California. While working with SoCalGas, a safety representative from Snelson spotted a wildfire along Highway 135 in the Santa Maria Valley in Northern Santa Barbara County. The safety manager quickly redirected a Snelson water truck to the brush fires.

A very thankful local fire department was able to use the water from the truck to put the fire out.

Snelson Companies had a construction water truck in the area that was able to quickly respond to assist the local fire fighters.

“It is said that true character is revealed in emergency situations,” Rob Conaway, a Construction Contractor Manager with SoCalGas said as he credited the Snelson crew for having the ‘right stuff.’

Fire season is just getting started in California, after the state saw record burns in 2020. As much of the state is in extreme drought conditions, 2021 isn’t expected to be much better, showing just how important it is to catch blazes before they turn into bigger disasters.
